Hispanic Heritage Local History Project

Mi Historia, Mi Casa, Blue Island: Hispanic Heritage History Project

Blue Island Public Library and Blue Island Historical Society are teaming up to begin the work of preserving the history of Blue Island’s vibrant Hispanic community. Share with friends and family, and join us in the Technology Annex with photos and memorabilia. Your family memories and history are an important contribution to the city’s history: the Library and Historical Society look forward to assisting in the preservation of your family’s Blue Island heritage.

Storycorps style sessions with Historical Society representatives can be scheduled for July 24, August 13, and September 14. email info@bihistoricalsociety.org or call 708-371-8546. Or, visit the Tech Annex on your own to digitize photos and memorabilia and record family stories in the Recording Studio!

Through the family histories shared with this project, the Library and Historical Society hope to develop new exhibits and displays showcasing the contributions of Hispanic residents to Blue Island’s rich history.
