The Revivalists

by Christopher Hood

I love a good post-apocalyptic road trip story, and The Revivalists provides a reflective modern take on the sub-genre.
After the Shark Flu has eliminated at least sixty percent of the humans on earth, Bill and Penelope know they are lucky.  Not only did they both survive, they are also able to communicate via radio with their daughter who is attending college on the other side of the country.  When their last call with her is troubling, Bill and Penelope set off to save their daughter from a cult.  Along the way, they meet a variety of people – wanna-be militia groups, pot farmers who found enlightenment, an isolated investment guru unable to let go of the past, amongst others – and are forced to grapple with assumptions and resentments in their relationships.
